5 Must-Try Valentine's Treats at Amelie's French Bakery & Cafe

Remember the cute pop-up dessert display at Taste of Atlanta 2018? That was Amelie’s! This eclectic French Cafe & Bakery combines a traditional skillset of pastry with artistic expression and seasonal items.

Although Amelie’s is in the heart of West Midtown, it’s one of the rare places with a full parking lot dedicated to the space. The actual Cafe & Bakery is also spacious inside with many tables suitable for working, studying or simply enjoying a quiet moment with your food selection. The music that echoes throughout the space is of the “chill” variety and is sure to give you a much needed escape from reality. Even for just a song. Amelie’s expands beyond its large room with all the tables, art and display case of incredibly delicate foods. There are multiple rooms for events! Some of their most popular occasions to host events are baby showers, bridal showers and birthday parties but with the accessible parking and “break from reality” feel, it would be nice for any occasion or holiday.

‘Tis the season for Valentine’s Day and Amelie’s is here for it. The bakery is serving many festive treats including: French Macarons, Lemon Raspberry Tart, Strawberry Vanilla Petit Gâteau, Raspberry Linzer Cookies and Custom Éclairs. The Éclairs can be filled with either chocolate or vanilla cream and topped with a custom message of your choosing! Pair any of these goodies with some of Amelie’s signature beverages like a Salted Caramel Brownie Cafe Mocha or a simple Espresso. We\u00a0met with Managing Partner, David Green, to get the scoop before the grand opening and the restaurant’s 2nd debut at Food That Rocks<\/a>.<\/span><\/strong> At Food That Rocks 2018<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, The Select<\/a><\/strong><\/span> served tastes of crab ceviche, which won them the title of “Best Taste” of the event. This year, The Select<\/a><\/strong><\/span> and Chef Matt Rainey are keeping their menu item a surprise for a few more weeks….but Chef Matt spilled a couple of kitchen secrets and released 5 photos of signature dishes that will live on The Select’s <\/a><\/strong><\/span>brick-and-mortar menu.<\/p>\n

The Select<\/a>, a 1920\u2019s-inspired restaurant and bar<\/strong><\/span> that will deliver a taste of contemporary, light and bright fare in a timeless atmosphere, is set to open next month at City Springs, the multi-use project in the heart of downtown Sandy Springs. From Dave Green and David Lester, also behind Vinings\u2019 restaurant Paces & Vine, the restaurant will feature\u00a0light and bright dishes, blurring the lines across the cuisines of the Mediterranean and America. With a focus on dishes inspired by the olive oil regions of Europe, the restaurant will offer shared plates, elegant yet approachable entrees and a late night menu.<\/span><\/div>\n

The Select pays homage to Paris\u2019 famed Le Select brasserie\u2014the notable all-day gathering spot for artists and literary giants including Picasso, Hemingway and Fitzgerald. Drawing inspiration from the Parisian restaurant, The Select will serve as a definitive neighborhood destination, inviting guests from all walks of life to share honest food, standout spirits and friendly conversation in a welcoming and relaxed setting.<\/span><\/p>\n

Executive Chef Matt Rainey will oversee the kitchen. A Georgia native, Rainey most recently served as Executive Chef at both Rococo Steak and Ceviche Tapas Bar & Restaurant in Tampa, Florida, and worked at award-winning restaurants in D.C., Boca Raton, Fort Lauderdale and Tampa, before returning to his home state. Mentored early on by famed restaurateur and Buckhead legend Pano Karatassos, Rainey is eager to bring his unique culinary concept to The Select. He is inspired by farm-to-table, locally-sourced Caledon cuisine marked by seasonality.<\/span><\/p>\n

At The Select, he will serve daily dinner and late-night small plates that blur the lines of culinary traditions across Continental Europe and America. Upon opening, the restaurant will host live music nights (\u201cThe Select Nights\u201d) beginning at the end of dinner hour into the late evening. Weekend brunch and lunch are to come.<\/span><\/p>\n

Complementing its culinary counterpart, the beverage program will offer an extensive wine list, craft cocktails that rotate with the season and local beer on draft. Including around 60 bottles and more than 30 options of wine by the glass, the wine menu will feature selections originating from France, Italy, Australia and America. The Select will also offer an exciting range of the best local beers and delicious original craft cocktails served in gorgeous glassware.<\/span><\/p>\n

The forthcoming restaurant will feature an open, airy space designed by Smith Hanes Studio. Upon entering, guests will be greeted by an inviting and warm interior mixing intimate seating with classic design elements. The Select will also include an expansive indoor\/outdoor patio enclosed by glass with a terrace overlooking a view of City Springs\u2019 park and fountains below. The dining room will seat 75 guests and will be available for private and semi-private events.<\/span><\/p>\n
